Payroll Administrator
Location: Head Office- Cambridge

Salary:£25,500 - £28,000 depending on experience.

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The role

Responsible for the accuracy of the payroll, you will be responsible for ensuring that employees and third parties are paid accurately and on time.

Delivers a cost-effective service whilst adding value to the business, ensuring compliance with HMRC legislation and company policies. Accountable for data management and record keeping in accordance with Data Protection and Employment law. Works as part of a team providing advice and guidance to a range of employee life cycle activities including employee queries and supporting the wider people team.

Who you are

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office


· Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail


· Knowledge of statutory payments and deductions


· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written


· Good time management and organisational skills


· Able to prioritise and multitask effectively


· Ability to meet deadlines


• Professional telephone manner.


• Proactive team player.


• Familiarity with payroll systems.


• Previous payroll experience essential


• Excellent computer literacy and keyboard skills (in particular Excel and Outlook)


• A clear and concise communicator both written and verbal


What you’ll do


• Assist in processing transactions such as pay awards, court orders, allowances, overtime, sickness etc.


• Salary calculations including but not exclusive to pay increases, holiday, unpaid leave


• Deal with new starters, leavers, salary sacrifice, pensions, attachment of earnings, statutory payment


• Resolving and responding to payroll queries directly with clients


• Ensure employee records are maintained and accurately reflect any agreed changes


• Using your professional judgement escalate and make the Payroll Lead aware of issues as they arise during the payroll processing cycle.


• Using your experience to process and manage data from the different stages of the business. This will include data cleansing, GDPR compliance, document retention and handling.


• Collaborate with the team to process starters and leavers in the system.


• Serve as the first point of contact for general telephone queries on a rotational basis.


• Assist in Overseeing the payroll email inbox


• Any other relevant tasks


• Receive and resolve employee payroll queries
