Offer description

Cranswick Farming is seeking an experienced and motivated Farm Manager to lead a large 10,000-place indoor wean-to-finish pig unit. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on leader with a strong understanding of pig production, people management, animal welfare, and operational performance. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving high standards across the unit, ensuring welfare, productivity, biosecurity, and team development remain at the forefront of operations.

Responsibilities

* Lead, motivate, and develop all employees working on the farm.
* Take overall responsibility for the health and welfare of livestock, including feeding, moving, treating, vaccinating, and handling pigs.
* Ensure animal welfare standards are maintained in line with company policies, audit requirements, and Red Tractor Assured Standards.
* Promote and enforce high levels of biosecurity and site security across the unit.
* Ensure all farm equipment and machinery are operated safely, maintained correctly, and remain fit for purpose.
* Oversee the management and appropriate use of consumables, including feed, medicines, and other farm resources.
* Maintain accurate and timely completion of all production and compliance paperwork.
* Ensure the farm remains clean, tidy, and presentable at all times.
* Manage site security, including responsibility for buildings, compounds, and access points outside working hours.
* Monitor production performance and work with the team to achieve and exceed key performance targets.
* Support, coach, and develop team members through training and performance management.
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and teamwork.
* Build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, managers, and visitors.

Requirements

* A genuine passion for animal welfare and livestock management.
* Previous management or leadership experience, ideally within an agricultural or livestock environment.
* Strong people management skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a high‑performing team.
* The ability to interpret production data and use it to drive performance improvements.
* Excellent planning, organisational, and logistical skills.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
* A proactive approach and a commitment to continuous learning and personal development.
* A full UK driving licence and access to your own transport, due to the rural location of the farm.

What We're Looking For: We are looking for a visible leader who leads by example, takes pride in maintaining the highest welfare standards, and can create a positive, high‑performance culture. You will be equally comfortable working with livestock and supporting your team.
