Summary of role:
The Stylist will report into the Department Lead at Production Factory with Creative & Style Direction from the M&S Styling team. Your role will focus on delivering innovative, on-brand styling for ecom and digital shoots and you will set new standards for styling to ensure product feels current and on trend, appealing to the M&S consumer.
You will be responsible for managing on-set styling, ensuring products are prepped, and models are dressed according to approved guidelines. This role involves creating looks for womenswear and menswear, conducting styling reviews, preparing samples with the samples team and ensuring all styling work adheres to M&S brand guidelines. You will also collaborate closely with the art direction and post-production teams to ensure all final imagery meets the highest standards of quality. Staying ahead of industry trends, you will push the boundaries of visual content to keep M&S at the forefront of fashion.
Responsibilities & Duties:
* Work across Collection, Autograph, Jaeger & Per Una lines, tailoring the styling to ensure it is relevant for the target consumer.
* Foster strong relationships with the M&S styling team, to build an in-depth understanding of seasonal collections and product styles.
* Have a complete understanding of the M&S brand strategy and appreciate the importance of their brand guidelines, and how this reflects in your area of styling.
* Ensure brand compliance by following M&S brand guidelines for all styling and visual content.
* Create engaging, on-brand styling for M&S ecommerce & digital shoots; work collaboratively with the samples, art direction, production and post production teams, alongside the freelance shoot teams to ensure content is delivered to the highest standard.
* Ensure meticulous attention to detail in product selection and look creation, ensuring every element is on brand.
* Manage on-set styling, ensuring products are steamed, models are dressed according to approved looks, and all styling elements (hair, makeup, footwear, accessories) are coordinated.
* Take guidance from M&S + Production Factory art direction teams when working on shoots.
* Collaborate with the art direction & post production teams to ensure all images meet M&S standards, provide retouch comments for product where needed.
* Stay informed on industry trends, fashion shows, and social movements to bring fresh, innovative ideas to each shoot and maintain awareness of competitors.
* Push the boundaries of visual content, continually striving to elevate M&S aesthetic and positioning in the industry.
* Work efficiently under tight deadlines, managing multiple tasks simultaneously and prepare for shoots with thorough organisation and planning.
* Where necessary, work in collaboration with the creative producers + casting director, manage castings/fittings to ensure models are fit for shoots.
* Participate in critique sessions to discuss content created, take on board feedback and find creative solutions to improve creative results and overall output.
* Be available to work for blocks of days associated with the scheduled shoots to deliver the seasonal collection in time for product launch.
You are:
* An experienced stylist with hands-on model & product styling experience, for fashion brands and fashion editorials.
* Experienced in delivering imagery and videos for digital and social channels
* At home in a studio shoot environment and understand the shoot processes and technical workings of a studio (including production, photography, film, retouch, hair & make-up, casting).
* Immersed in fashion culture, aware of current trends and how they relate to the M&S customer, and able to apply this knowledge to styling decisions.
* Used to working with brand guidelines, with an in-depth knowledge of how styling choices impact brand perception.
* Capable of managing a high-volume workload, prioritising tasks effectively, and adapting to changing demands.
* Agile, adaptable, and resilient, open to feedback and able to work collaboratively with engaged stakeholders.
* Passionate about your craft, with a portfolio that showcases your styling expertise.
* A positive, can-do individual, who approaches challenges with energy and a problem-solving mindset.
* Able to work full time at Big Sky studios in London.
