Our client, a leading infrastructure and utilities contractor, is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team.This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven professional looking to take ownership of major projects while supporting the wider commercial function. Working closely with senior leadership and operational teams, you will play a pivotal role in driving profitability, managing contractual obligations, mitigating risk, and maximising commercial opportunities across a diverse project portfolio.The successful candidate will bring strong commercial expertise, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to confidently oversee all financial aspects of project delivery.The RoleAs a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial performance of multiple projects, ensuring robust cost control, effective contract management, and successful value recovery throughout the project lifecycle.You will act as a key commercial advisor to operational teams, supporting strategic decision-making while maintaining strong client and subcontractor relationships.Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor project expenditure against tender allowances and budget forecastsManage value recovery and ensure commercial targets are achievedIdentify, assess, and manage project changes, variations, and compensation eventsMaximise commercial opportunities while mitigating project risksEnsure contractual obligations and notice requirements are administered correctlyMaintain accurate commercial records and supporting documentationPrepare and submit client applications for paymentTrack payments received and proactively manage outstanding debt recoveryReview and understand project scopes and contractual requirementsPrice additional works, variations, and change requestsNegotiate and agree final accounts with clients and subcontractorsProduce accurate monthly commercial reports and forecastsReview contracts for commercial risk, onerous clauses, and unusual provisionsCommunicate contractual obligations and risks to operational delivery teamsManage and report on project pipelines and contract statusProvide commercial guidance and support across the wider businessBuild and maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholdersAbout YouWe are looking for an experienced commercial professional with a proven track record of delivering strong financial performance within construction, infrastructure, utilities, or civil engineering environments.Essential Skills & ExperienceSignificant Quantity Surveying experience within a construction-related sectorStrong commercial and contractual management expertiseExperience managing project costs, valuations, variations, and final accountsExcellent understanding of value recovery and change management processesStrong negotiation and stakeholder management skillsAbility to analyse contracts and identify commercial risks and opportunitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong numerical and analytical abilitiesAdvanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectivelyDesirableDegree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related disciplineExperience within utilities, infrastructure, civil engineering, or related sectorsStrong understanding of NEC contractsPrevious experience mentoring or supporting junior commercial team membersWhat's on Offer?Competitive salary and benefits packageCar allowance or company vehicleOpportunity to work on major infrastructure and utilities projectsClear career progression opportunitiesSupportive and collaborative working environmentExposure to senior stakeholders and strategic commercial decision-makingIf you are an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in your career with a forward-thinking organisation, we'd welcome the opportunity to discuss this role with you.Apply today for a confidential conversation.Aldwych Consulting values diversity and promotes equality.
