Lead Planning Engineer - GE Vernova

Responsibilities and Accountabilities
* Build the project baseline gaining approval of client and internal stakeholders.
* Maintain project schedule with periodic updates, including resource forecasts throughout the project lifecycle.
* Identify activity prerequisites and help anticipate blockers with the wider project team and third parties.
* Drive and challenge progress, agree forecast and develop mitigations/catch‑up plans.
* Ensure schedule analysis through various means (schedule movements, S curve, commodity curve, OTD, Say/Do ratio, over‑planning, resource loading, productivity) to determine project schedule trends and risks & opportunities.
* Lead collaboration with functional task and resource owners to find strategies to optimize durations and man‑hours.
* Ensure forecast task durations and logic are understood and committed by task owners.
* Present all time schedule data transparently, attend project and management reviews, and influence strategic decisions.
* Produce and communicate internal project reporting of project status.
* Produce contractually required customer reporting and communicate directly with customers on scheduling matters.
* Lead collaboration with 3rd parties on project schedule interfaces including maintenance of an interface register.
* Maintain a register of potential schedule and cost risks in collaboration with the Risk Manager.
* Provide time‑related calculations to ensure change‑order schedule/ cost estimates are accurate.
* Align with Cost Controller to reconcile P6 schedule and approved cost phasing.
* Generate “what‑if” scenarios to optimize execution and evaluate feasibility with project teams.
* Support disputes and analysis of claims.
* Takes full responsibility for the planning output for the assigned project(s) in close coordination with the Project Manager(s).
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in engineering or project management discipline.
* 5+ years of experience in planning management, including 2 years in electrical substations.
* Robust experience in Primavera P6 (Essential) and EPC/turnkey projects.
* Excellent interpersonal skills for cross‑functional daily interaction, good communication, problem‑solving aptitude, team spirit, and resilience.
* Analytical and contributes to decision‑making; provides factual support for decisions.
* Autonomous, reliable, and customer focused.
Education & Soft Skills
* Prime focus on electrical substations and strong knowledge of HVDC converter stations is a plus.
* Knowledge of risk management processes and tools, quantitative risk analysis, and cost control interface with schedule is a plus.
* Experience with forensic analysis for EOT claims preparation is a plus.
