Anderson Knight is currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor.\n\nour client are a leading end-to-end Multi Utility & civil engineering services business based in the West Midlands\n\nThe Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing the cost aspects of on-going projects. This includes budgeting, cost estimation, risk management, procurement, and contract administration from inception to completion. The Senior Quantity Surveyor ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with the required quality standards.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nCost Management:\n\nPrepare and manage budgets, cost plans, and financial forecasts against project.\n\nMonitor project costs and identify any discrepancies or variations, taking corrective actions where necessary.\n\nConduct value engineering exercises to ensure cost-effective solutions.\n\nContract Administration:\n\nPrepare, review, and manage contracts, including tendering, awarding, and negotiating with contractors and subcontractors.\n\nReview and assess the progress of work to ensure that all contract terms and conditions are met.\n\nOversee the preparation and submission of interim payment applications and certificates.\n\nRisk Management:\n\nIdentify potential financial and contractual risks and propose risk mitigation strategies.\n\nEnsure that risks are regularly reviewed and updated through project risk registers.\n\nProcurement and Tendering:\n\nDevelop and manage procurement strategies for works and services.\n\nLead the tendering process, including preparing tender documents, analysing bids, and advising on contractor selection.\n\nProject Support and Advisory:\n\nProvide advice on all cost-related aspects of the project and ensure financial controls are in place.\n\nLiaise with clients, contractors, and internal project teams to ensure projects are delivered within scope, time, and budget.\n\nTeam Management:\n\nMentor and guide junior quantity surveyors and other members of the cost management team.\n\nLead the team to ensure high standards of professionalism and quality in all aspects of cost management.\n\nReporting:\n\nPrepare and present regular financial reports to senior management and clients.\n\nMonitor and track project costs, providing forecasts and early warnings where necessary.\n\nEducation and Qualifications:\n\nA degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.\n\nChartered status (MRICS) or working towards it is preferred.\n\nExperience:\n\nSignificant experience (typically 3+ years) as a Quantity Surveyor in the civils/Utilities industry, with a focus on large or complex projects.\n\nProven experience in managing costs, procurement, and contracts within the construction/Civils or infrastructure sectors.\n\nSkills:\n\nStrong knowledge of construction contracts, including NEC, JCT, and FIDIC.\n\nProficient in cost management software (e.g., CostX, Procore, or similar).\n\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.\n\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.\n\nAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively
