About the apprenticeship
Duties
As a 1st Line IT Support Engineer, you will be the first point of contact for IT-related queries and issues within a busy financial services firm. The role will involve:
•Responding promptly to user and internal IT team enquiries, resolving a wide range of technical problems.
•Providing day-to-day maintenance of IT servers and associated software.
•Creating and maintaining accurate documentation for supported systems and software, ensuring accessibility for all IT team members.
•Managing IT issues in line with established standards and procedures.
•Overseeing the firm’s IT assets, including inventory management, labelling and secure disposal.
•Diagnosing and resolving issues across the firm’s IT infrastructure, including printers, telephone systems, PCs and servers
•Supporting project-based work from planning and design through to implementation, support and evaluation.
•Monitoring and maintaining the firm’s backup solutions, ensuring reliability and swift issue resolution

This could have been obtained through a qualification or through personal learning. They need to have the ability to plan and organise their own work and work to required deadlines, prioritising work accordingly. They must have excellent communication skills and be able to listen and respond to questions from all levels of employees.
