Want to play a vital role in shaping the future of our region’s water infrastructure? We’re seeking a Water Network Project Designer to join or high-performing project design team, delivering essential clean water schemes across the network.
From mains renewals and MPV meters to pumping stations and reservoirs-you’ll lead on the design of complex, high-impact projects that directly affect the service we provide to internal and external customers.
As part of a dedicated, multi-skilled team, you’ll be instrumental in the successful delivery of the regional pressure optimisation programme, as well as a wide portfolio of clean water infrastructure projects.
You’ll take ownership of your designs from concept to completion ensuring all schemes meet agreed levels of service, technical standards and regulatory expectations.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities Lead the design of clean water infrastructure projects across the region, including internal diversions, PMV/meter installations, MMIs, pumping stations, mains renewals, air valve replacements, and reservoirs.
Own schemes from initial enquiry through to detailed design, estimating, and release for construction.
Ensure smooth transition from design to contraction by working closely with contraction partners to identify and resolve buildability issues.
Maintain the Water Network Design SharePoint site and track progress and actions using JIRA.
Fulfil designer responsibilities under CDM Regulations 2015, ensuring Health & Safety is embedded in all stages of the design.
Provide technical advice and support to internal teams and external stakeholder regarding project designs and site-specific requirements.
Technical Skills & Experience Full UK driving license-travel to regional sites and meetings will be required.
HNC (or equivalent) in Civil or Technical Engineering-or significant relevant experience in a design-focused role within the water industry.
Extensive clean water design experience-you must be a fully fledged designer, confident in leading the design of complex clean water network projects.
Fully competent in CAD software-you must be able to independently produce high-quality CAD drawings to support each scheme.
Strong working knowledge of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM)-including the ability to produce Pre-Construction information (PCI) documentation.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills-with the ability to work confidently with internal customers and construction partners at all levels.
