Overview
Research Fellow in Liquid Crystals for Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (Materials) at University of Leeds. This role is part of a collaborative programme with Merck Electronics KGa, a world-leading company working in liquid crystals. You will work with a team of scientists from the company alongside University of Leeds researchers.
Responsibilities
* Design, synthesis, optimisation and characterisation of liquid crystals for optical devices.
* Collaborate with a team of scientists from Merck Electronics KGa and University of Leeds.
* Carry out a range of research projects; write papers; contribute to patent applications; give presentations.
* Maintain day-to-day interactions with the company and travel to company premises in the UK and Germany.
Qualifications
* Experimental PhD or submission before taking up the role in Liquid Crystal Materials, Chemistry, or a closely related discipline.
* Research experience in liquid crystal materials or related soft matter, with a strong background in synthesis, physics, and characterisation.
* Direct experience with experimental techniques relevant to liquid crystals or related soft matter systems.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
