An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Specialist Eating Disorder Service for an experienced and enthusiastic clinician to join our dynamic multi-disciplinary team to help deliver a high quality effective service to individuals with Eating Disorders.
You will be joining a very experienced, multi-disciplinary team of nurses, psychotherapists, psychologists, dietitians and medical staff. Although, you will be part of the Adult Eating Disorder Team, you will work closely with colleagues in Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, Adult Primary and Secondary Mental Health Services to ensure that individuals experience a seamless and co-ordinated approach to their care. Previous training in a core profession (such as mental health nursing, psychology, social work, occupational therapy or dietetics) is essential. Interested individuals will also be enthusiastic, motivated and committed to driving forwards the continued development of the Specialist Eating Disorder Service.
Main duties of the job
Work autonomously and as part of a team in the delivery of specialist Eating Disorder Services for patients and their carers across SBUHB.
Work closely with colleagues in Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, ensuring effective transition between services in line with local and national policy guidance.
Manage a case load of the most complex eating disorder cases. Work collaboratively with patients and carers to plan, implement and evaluate individual treatment plans.
Undertake risk assessments and risk management for relevant individual patients and develop appropriate strategies to minimise risk. Provide specialist clinical assessment, formulation, interventions and treatment approaches consistent with the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) and other National guidance.
Work with the MDT to ensure that admissions with high medical risks needs are managed safely as per NICE guidance and Medical Emergencies in Eating Disorders (MEED) guidance.
Leadership role within the Eating Disorder MDT and will be responsible for conducting appraisals, providing supervision and mentoring to more junior members of the team. Provide clinical advice relating to eating disorder presentations to other health care professionals within SBUHB. Provide teaching and training in Eating Disorders to health care professionals within mental health and general medical health care as required.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
1. Health related professional qualification and membership of governing body. Educated to Master’s degree in Health-related subject or able to demonstrate knowledge and experience to masters level.
2. Ability to write for publication. Professional knowledge acquired through degree/diploma supplemented by specialist training, experience, and short courses.
3. Knowledge of research design, methodology and analysis. Up to date knowledge of legislation, policy and professional issues pertinent to the area of specialism and its contexts.
4. Up to date knowledge of relevant mental health legislative frameworks for children, adolescents and adults.
Desirable criteria
5. Teaching qualification.
6. Formal training in family therapy and supervision.
7. Child and Adolescent Mental Health Qualification.
Experience
Essential criteria
8. Relevant experience of providing evidence based interventions for Eating Disorders at Band 6 or higher.
9. Experience within specialist Child and Adolescent and/or Adult Mental Health Services. Significant experience of researching, developing and delivering training packages.
10. Experience in providing supervision/consultation for other clinicians. Experience of successful change management and dealing with conflict. Experience of effective multi-agency working.
11. Experience of participating in the planning and development of services. Experienced in speaking and lecturing in public and professional forums. Experience of research.

12. High level communication and interpersonal skills to convey and receive complex, highly technical, sensitive information effectively at both a written and oral level.
