Overview
You will be supervised by Professor Paul Edison who leads the Imperial Memory Research Centre within the Department of Brain Sciences. The Centre evaluates neuroinflammation and other neurodegenerative processes such as synaptic function, mitochondrial function, amyloid and tau and structural functional changes in neurodegeneration using PET, MRI and CSF markers, and involves both basic and translational imaging.
Responsibilities
* Lead and undertake research of the highest quality in the broad area of dementia and cognitive impairment: undertake research studies, contribute to ongoing studies, and develop new studies in discussion with Prof Edison.
* Carry out appropriate clinical evaluation of patients and other tasks for effective running of the research.
* Participate in data analysis, manuscript writing (original research and reviews) and publications.
* Attend research meetings and seminars within the group and at scientific conferences.
* undertake necessary training and development; plan and help with the writing of future research proposals for funding and fellowship applications under the direction of Prof Edison.
* Be part of memory and cognition clinics under Prof. Paul Edison; undertake administration tasks; ensure data is accurate, up-to-date, and complete; attend relevant meetings; undertake necessary training and development.
Qualifications
* Degree in medicine (MBBS) and GMC registration.
* Clinical experience in a relevant discipline, such as neurology or general medicine.
* Well-organised with experience in problem solving in research projects.
* Experience administering relevant neurology symptom-related questionnaires is desirable but not essential.
* Training in clinical trial management and how to write high-impact papers and research applications (training provided).
