Advanced Apprentice Fabricator
Location:
Glasgow
Salary:
Starting from £18,667 with annual progression through the scheme duration.
What you'll be doing:
* Fabrication and Installation Training – learn to fabricate and install sub‑assemblies and major assemblies using tools for marking out, thermal cutting, and welding.
* Structural Assembly and Equipment Operation – build components like shell plates, decks, and bulkheads, and operate overhead cranes, chain blocks, and hydraulic pumps to erect major units.
* Technical Drawing Interpretation – develop skills in reading steelwork drawings, engineering symbols, and conventions to guide precise fabrication and outfitting tasks.
* Health and Safety Expertise – gain extensive safety training in working at height, confined spaces, PPE usage, and dynamic risk assessment, progressing toward the Gold Passport standard.
* Core Fabrication Skills Development – master platework assembly, abrasive wheel handling, shipbuilding terminology, and welding techniques including MMA, Oxy‑fuel, and Plasma cutting, earning a tack welding qualification.

* National Certificate in Welding & Fabrication
* (Optional Higher National Certificate in Fabrication, Welding & Inspection)
* Level 7 Engineering Diploma Pathway B: Engineering Manufacturing and Fabrication
