A vacancy has arisen for a Support Secretary in the Medicine division at Northampton General Hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Support Secretary/Typist to join our friendly administration team.
The post holder will have a good understanding and knowledge of medical terminology with audio typing experience and good overall IT skills.
In this role you will be working with highly confidential information throughout the day and it’s vital that this is dealt with in a sensitive and professional manner.
The successful candidate must be a good team player but with the ability to also work autonomously and manage their own workload.
To work as part of a clerical team to support a defined team of Clinicians. Provide a comprehensive, confidential secretarial and administration support service to the Consultants, Medical staff, clinical team and department.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will provide an efficient administrative and secretarial day-to-day support service to the Consultants, medical staff, clinical teams and department. Duties will include typing of correspondence and documents, dealing with different enquiries, dealing with patients’ records and other general office administration duties.
Provide a comprehensive clinical secretarial service to the Clinical Team to enable them to carry out their duties in an effective and efficient manner and ensure efficiency in patient care.

Qualifications
* Minimum 3 GCSE at Grade C or above, including English or equivalent
* NVQ3 or equivalent experience or qualifications
* RSA3, AMSPAR, BSMS Qualification
Knowledge & Experience
* Knowledge of a range of secretarial and administrative procedures
* Very good written and verbal communication skills
* Courteous, tactful and efficient telephone manner
* Proficient in Microsoft packages including Word and Outlook
* Experience of working in a busy office environment
* Experience of database systems
* Planning and organisational skills
* Advanced keyboard skills
* Experience of working within a healthcare setting
* Knowledge of medical terminology

* Developed attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to cope under pressure and meet deadlines on a regular basis
