Position: Rail Engine Tester
Location: Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire
Duration: Permanent
Hours: 6 am - 4 pm, Monday to Thursday; 6 am - 12 pm, Friday
Position Summary:
The role involves testing and validating Rail Engines, Transmission, Powerpacks, and Cooler Groups. Familiarity with diesel engine operation, electrical, and electronic control systems is required.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Install and test production power products in test cells according to work instructions.
2. Ensure products meet testing requirements.
3. Accurately record data for traceability.
4. Maintain up-to-date documentation.
5. Develop testing requirements for future products.
6. Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults.
7. Coordinate with production on technical issues.
8. Collaborate with colleagues and work as part of a team.
9. Mentor trainees and apprentices when applicable.
10. Collect failure data and provide feedback to Engineering.
11. Work overtime as required.
12. Follow all health, safety, and environmental instructions.
13. Perform other reasonable tasks within skills and abilities.
14. Operate computer-controlled test cells, requiring basic computer skills.
Background & Experience:
* Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
* Experience in testing or a similar discipline.
* Good communication skills at all levels.
Qualifications/Education:
* Engineering qualification or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
* Product training will be provided through mentoring.
