Job description

Flexible working: We support full time, part-time, compressed, job share and other flexible working patterns. Due to the nature of our work this is an office-based role, therefore opportunities for remote working and/or working from home are not possible.

About Us

We're MI6, also known as the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS). Our mission is to protect the security and economic wellbeing of the UK from overseas threats such as regional instability, terrorism, and cyber-attacks. Working across the globe and in close partnership with MI5 and GCHQ, we help the Government to counter these threats through the provision of secret intelligence. A role in MI6 will see you providing vital support to this work, within a supportive and encouraging environment that puts the emphasis on teamwork.

The Role

As one of our Associate Delivery Managers, you’ll work with a variety of teams across MI6 to deliver products throughout the organisation. With support and mentoring from your Delivery Managers, you’ll size and scope new products, systems and service features, then ensure they’re rolled out smoothly, overseeing and working in partnership with stakeholders to do so.

From financial to operational, all our products help us fulfil our mission to keep the UK safe. You’ll be working with a variety of unique products as you respond to one-of-a-kind business needs and think quickly to find solutions. Once your products are delivered, you’ll stay involved to provide ongoing support, so you’ll also get to see the impact of your work.

You’ll work in an Agile way, and your managers will coach you in best practice so you can develop your skills and understanding. There’ll also be the chance to get involved in exciting new projects working with the Cloud and AI. Plus, if you’re interested, there may be opportunities for both national and international travel available.

About You

You’ll need a background in technology. For example, you could have experience in project management or support within IT, Scrum, cyber or engineering. Experience working in an Agile environment would be desirable, but if you haven’t worked in this way, there’ll be training available once you join us.

You’ll be able to manage budgets and timelines and be comfortable problem solving along the way. As you oversee the work of technical teams on your projects, you’ll be able to provide practical support and recommendations to ensure delivery runs as smoothly as possible. You’ll also understand the importance of planning and forecasting but be flexible and able to alter your approach to mitigate risks or deal with unforeseen changes.

Finally, you’ll be passionate about your work. Someone who’s committed to providing value to customers. Who’s interested in niche, innovative technologies. And who can help ensure MI6’s digital programme continues to succeed by ensuring our products are both fit-for-purpose and rolled out smoothly.

Training and Development

There’s a comprehensive training and development pathway on offer, which uses the Government Digital and Data Profession Capability (GDDPC) framework. It includes tailored training, coaching and mentoring, alongside opportunities to gain qualifications and pursue specialist Agile Delivery pathways, if this interests you.

You’ll also be enrolled in our internal training pathway, which will allow you to develop your skills in Agile Delivery Management with training like ICAgile and ICP-ACC Agile Coaching. What’s more, you’ll have access to on-the-job training and a buddy scheme, where you can benefit from the expertise of your colleagues.

After you’ve joined, you’ll be expected to validate your professional skills using the GDDPC framework within your probation period. We’ll guide you on how to demonstrate this effectively. As you grow your professional skills and develop, you’ll have the chance to further progress through the framework’s pay points.

Rewards and Benefits

You’ll receive a starting salary of £58,513 plus other benefits including:

* 25 Days Annual Leave automatically rising to 30 days after 5 years' service, and an additional 10.5 days public and privilege holidays
* Opportunities to be recognised through our employee performance scheme
* Interest-free season ticket loan
* Excellent pension scheme
* Cycle to work scheme
* Facilities such as a gym, restaurant and on-site coffee bars (at some locations)
* Paid parental and adoption leave

Equal Opportunities

At MI6 diversity and inclusion are critical to our mission. To protect the UK, we need a truly diverse workforce that reflects the society we serve. This includes diversity in every sense of the word: those with different backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, ways of thinking and those with disabilities or neurodivergent conditions. We therefore welcome and encourage applications from everyone, including those from groups that are under-represented in our workforce such as women, those from an ethnic minority background, people with disabilities and those from low socio-economic backgrounds.

We’re Disability Confident

MI6 is proud to have achieved Leader status within the DWP’s Disability Confident scheme. This is aimed at encouraging employers to think differently about disability and take action to improve how they recruit, retain and develop disabled people. As a Disability Confident Leader we aim to ensure that a fair and proportionate number of disabled applicants who best meet the essential minimum criteria for this position, will be offered an interview, if it is practical for us to do so. (This is known as Offer of an Interview.) To secure an interview for this role, the minimum criteria (in order of application process) are:

* Evidence of working within delivery and project disciplines – assessed at application sift
