Introducing Data Science & Analytics at Trainline
Data Science & Analytics is central to how we build products, delight our customers, and grow our business. Our Data Scientists & Analysts are embedded in cross-functional teams across product and marketing. They have a high degree of autonomy and are empowered to drive their teams' success using all available data and techniques.
This role is ideal for a Senior Data Scientist looking to move into management or a hands-on Data Science Manager. You will start in a more hands-on capacity, learning the space and data, with plans to hire one Data Analyst initially, with potential for growth. You will focus on Trainline Partner Solutions (TPS), our B2B arm offering white-label products for carriers and our Business Travel Booking Platform. As the most senior Data Science & Analytics person in TPS, you'll lead the strategy for the space, influence data engineering and BI roadmaps, and help develop data maturity and a test-and-learn approach to product development.
Our Data Science leaders need to act as both experts in data science and analytics and as business leaders. You will collaborate with Product, Marketing, Engineering, and Commercial teams to set the long-term strategy and communicate this vision to senior leadership. You'll also work closely with Data Engineering, Machine Learning, and BI teams to ensure data initiatives align with company goals.
Management experience is preferred; however, a successful track record as an individual contributor with a desire to progress into management is also acceptable. Experience in a data-driven tech organization and strategic thinking in a data context are essential.
As a Data Science Manager at Trainline, you will:
* Lead a team of approximately 1 Data Scientist/Analyst
* Drive high standards and impact within your organization
* Mature data-driven growth strategies
* Lead strategy and delivery of TPS with cross-functional teams
* Set clear strategies and ensure data-driven execution
Our tech stack includes: SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, AWS Athena, among others.
Qualifications
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
* Experience leading data-driven decision-making in a tech product, ideally in B2B
* Management experience with a high standard for analysis (minimum 1 year)
* Experience driving growth in online products (minimum 6 years)
* Strategic thinking and ability to communicate complex analysis effectively
* Experience with marketing evaluation and success measurement
* Ability to handle complex data sets and derive insights
* Strong presentation and data visualization skills
* Knowledge of statistical techniques like econometric modeling
* A university degree in a relevant subject with statistical elements (e.g., maths, economics)
