Deputy Manager in Residential Care - Leadership Opportunity
Safeguarding and empowering vulnerable young people, while contributing to a positive staff culture, is at the heart of this role.
The Deputy Manager will play a key part in ensuring high standards of care and compliance, leading by example, and creating a home where children feel safe, valued, and supported to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist the Registered Manager in daily operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies.
* Act as a positive role model for children and staff, promoting resilience, independence, and emotional well-being.
* Lead, supervise, and support a team of residential care workers, delivering outstanding care and consistent routines.
* Build trusted relationships with children, creating a homely environment that is nurturing, structured, and trauma-informed.
* Participate in care planning and risk assessments, ensuring each child's needs and progress are clearly documented and acted upon.
* Support recruitment, training, and development of staff, promoting a culture of learning, accountability, and care.
* Deputise for the Registered Manager during periods of absence.
Requirements:
* A passionate individual committed to improving the lives of children in care.
* A loyal and dependable team player with strong integrity and responsibility.
* Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – Level 5 or willingness to work towards it is highly desirable.
* At least 2 years of experience in a residential childcare setting, including supervisory or leadership experience.
* Excellent knowledge of safeguarding, children's legislation, and Ofsted expectations.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm and lead confidently under pressure.
