Technical Specialist in Microscopy (Electron Microscopy)

Are you passionate about advancing agricultural research through cutting-edge microscopy techniques? Our client, a leading R&D organisation, is looking for a Technical Specialist in Microscopy to join their dynamic team.

As a Technical Specialist in Microscopy, you will play a vital role in the Microscopy team within the Bioscience function. Your expertise will support crucial research projects related to structural studies and phenotyping, focusing on the performance characteristics of existing product lines.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide scientific and technical support for microscopy-related requests by conducting studies using fluorescence and electron microscopy.
Demonstrate proficiency in microscopy techniques, ensuring operational priorities align with project goals.
Analyse data meticulously and present your findings through detailed reports and engaging presentations.
Implement Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) actions to uphold operational standards.
Advance and review sample preparation methodologies, including fixation, infiltration, sectioning, and staining protocols.
Collaborate with team members to improve lab capacity and efficiency, while fostering knowledge transfer and new workflow capabilities.What We're Looking For:

Essential: BSc or MSc (preferred) or PhD in Biological Science, Chemistry, or related fields with a focus on microscopy and bioimaging.
Essential: 1-2 years of laboratory experience in a relevant professional or academic setting.
Essential: Strong scientific writing skills in English, along with effective verbal communication and organisational abilities.
Desirable: Experience imaging plant or insect materials using optical and electron microscopy.
Desirable: Familiarity with a variety of techniques, including fluorescence and electron microscopy.
Desirable: Skills in handling and preparing samples for microscopy.
Desirable: Proficiency in image analysis tools for data storage, reporting, and analysis.
Desirable: Experience in running automated workflows using High-Pressure Freezing (HPF) or Automated Freeze Substitution (AFS).What We Offer:
