Overview
The Community Finance Service provides financial assessments to determine eligibility for care services, handles invoicing of assessed client charges for residential and non-residential services, provides accurate and timely advice and information, and monitors and reconciles direct payment accounts to ensure accurate recharges for joint funded packages of care.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 3 candidates to join Westmorland and Furness Council as a new team is set up within the Service area.
The Direct Payment Officers will provide support and guidance to Direct Payment recipients and operational teams as they monitor and reconcile Direct Payment accounts and handle customer queries related to the four-weekly statements issued by the Council for care and support. The Officers will action recharges to partners for care and support provided through the Council.
Responsibilities
* Provide support and guidance to Direct Payment recipients and to operational teams in monitoring and reconciling Direct Payment accounts.
* Respond to customer queries regarding four-weekly statements and ensure accurate recharge actions to partner organisations.
* Monitor and reconcile accounts in line with legislation and local policy, maintaining day-to-day operations.
* Maintain accurate records and use a variety of computerised systems to action recharges to partner organisations.
* Contribute to continuous improvement and work effectively within a team to meet deadlines.
* Handle sensitive information in accordance with Information Governance legislation, including when visiting clients in their homes or care settings.
Qualifications and Skills
* Highly motivated with excellent attention to detail and accuracy; able to problem solve and think critically.
* Flexible, able to work to competing deadlines, and possess strong customer care and communication skills.
* Team player with a commitment to continuous improvement and ability to work within technical policies and legislation.
* Experience in a customer-focused environment, ideally financial, with patience and understanding; ability to handle clients or their representatives sensitively.
* Strong organisation and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise work with frequent interruptions.
* Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision and to maintain accurate records using various computerised systems.
* Understanding of Adult Social Care (ASC) services is desirable.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work harmoniously with others to achieve service goals.
Working Arrangements
The team has adapted to hybrid working and you will be expected to work from your local office on a 60/40 basis to support effective working relationships.
Additional Information
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to deal with financial matters in line with legislation and policy, including lone-working when visiting clients in their homes or care settings.
