ADHD Needs You! Are you interested in ADHD or seeking a change? Join the Suffolk Adult ADHD team as part of our nursing team to support people of Suffolk on their ADHD journey. The Band 6 nurse will screen new referrals, respond to duty calls, and conduct medication review appointments for people under our team. Flexible/hybrid working options are available and there is an opportunity to help shape ADHD provision for Suffolk moving forwards.
Our primary goal is to walk alongside people on their ADHD journey, providing a kind, safe and effective level of support. We may consider an established community Band 6 nurse with ADHD experience, or someone looking to expand their scope of practice or stepping up from Band 5 as a development opportunity.
Responsibilities
* Screen and triage new referrals; participate in duty work as part of the team.
* Liaise with other health professionals (GPs, pharmacies) and with carers; contribute to clinical audits.
* Conduct annual medication reviews and support titration reviews with NMPs where appropriate.
* Provide face-to-face patient assessments at team bases in Suffolk (remote-only working is not suitable).
* Support service development and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to improve ADHD provision.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential: nursing degree or equivalent with a relevant mental health or learning disability nursing qualification; ability to see patients face-to-face in Suffolk bases.
Desirable: experience in social care/health-related study; previous community experience; ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Skills: ability to process, plan and delegate work; identify and respond to changes in healthcare needs; time management and reflective practice (desirable).

Job responsibilities (cont.)
To assist in the management and organisation of work as required. Provide planned nursing care and risk assessment/screening for patients within the care plan. Implement first and/or urgent patient assessments. Ongoing evaluation of patient needs and potential discharge in conjunction with the Senior Nurse, through caseload management and supervision. Initiate and attend patient-centred reviews, case conferences, and other meetings; inform the Responsible Medical Officer(s) and health and social care professionals of changes in patients’ conditions.
Work within the multidisciplinary team and foster partnerships with other care providers. Enable patients and carers to make informed decisions about their care; work with agencies inside and outside the multidisciplinary team. Provide caseload management supervision to junior staff under direction and supervision of the Senior Nurse; assist with supervision of peers when requested. Maintain responsibility for review of a patient’s care within the team; prioritise and disseminate information. Support learner nurse placements in the Community Nursing Service in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Actively participate in training and education; mentor students and undertake annual updates on mentorship and triennial reviews. Undertake sign-off mentor training and delegate appropriate tasks to junior staff.
