Job Title: Planning Officer (Maternity Cover)
We are offering a maternity cover position lasting 9-12 months, depending on the employee's return date. We provide a hybrid working model; ideally, candidates should attend our offices once or twice a week, but this can be discussed further at the interview stage.
Attendance at Planning Committee meetings and site visits, which occur once a month, will be required. The post holder will handle major and complex planning applications and line manage a team of Planning Officers.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Processing complex and varied planning applications, including preparing reports for officers and committees.
2. Working to deadlines.
3. Providing professional pre-application advice to the public, members, and developers via our advice service and daily duty phone line.
4. Presenting applications at Planning Committee meetings.
5. Providing guidance to team members to ensure professional and efficient work.
6. Monitoring team performance.
Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a Degree or equivalent in Town and Planning or a related discipline, be members of the RTPI, and have extensive experience and knowledge of development management processes.
