Job Description
Key responsibilities:
3. Support the HSE Manager in maintaining and improving ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 management systems
4. Conduct internal HSE audits and oversee corrective and preventive actions
5. Deliver toolbox talks and day‑to‑day HSE guidance to shop‑floor and office‑based staff
6. Assist with accident, incident and near‑miss investigations, including root cause and actions
7. Produce HSE statistics, reports, newsletters and safety communications
8. Challenge unsafe behaviours and practices in a pragmatic, professional manner
9. Support waste management activities and environmental initiatives
10. Review, implement and maintain policies, procedures and safe systems of work
11. Assist with and review risk assessments and method statements
12. Maintain inspection records and produce improvement‑focused reports
13. Keep up to date with HSE legislation and industry developments
14. Manage the safe handling and disposal of hazardous substances
15. Advise on specialist areas such as COSHH, fire safety, machinery guarding, noise and occupational health
The Successful Applicant
The successful candidate:
16. Minimum 3 years' experience in an HSE role within a manufacturing or production environment
17. Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation
18. Experience with COSHH assessments, risk assessments and method statements
19. Confident delivering toolbox talks and supporting behavioural safety initiatives
20. Experience supporting or facilitating internal and external audits
21. Organised, proactive and comfortable working on site with operational teams
22. Strong written and verbal communication skills with good attention to detail
23. Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with wider teams
