The role

The Governing Body of the Penrhyn-coch and Penllwyn Schools Federation is seeking a permanent After‑School Club Play Assistant: an enthusiastic and caring individual to support our after‑school provision. The role involves working 4 hours per week, in addition to casual supply work. The purpose of the job is to assist in organising the after‑school provision at Penllwyn Community School on a day‑to‑day basis, providing high standards of care and play opportunities for children between the ages of 4 and 11 in a safe and secure environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a safe and stimulating play environment and assisting with the development of opportunities that encourage children’s social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development through play.
  • Being responsible to the club supervisor and the Headteacher.
  • Ensuring that the provision offers a safe and exciting play environment.
  • Assisting with the planning, preparation and provision of activities that meet the individual development needs of children.
  • Working face to face with the children who are registered with the club.
  • Supervising tea time refreshments for the children.
  • Following safeguarding guidelines and procedures in accordance with Ysgol Penrhyn-coch and Ysgol Penllwyn Federalism policies.
  • Carrying out any other duties that will be seen to improve the work of the After School Club.

A play leader qualification and the ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh would be desirable but not essential. The successful candidate will need to complete a Level 1 safeguarding qualification.

We are committed to safeguarding and protecting children and adults at risk. As part of this commitment, certain roles within our organisation require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to assess the suitability of candidates. This role will require an Enhanced DBS check. The presence of previous convictions will not necessarily disqualify a candidate from consideration for this position. We assess each applicant on a case‑by‑case basis, taking into account the nature and relevance of any convictions in relation to the responsibilities of the role. Our goal is to create an inclusive and supportive work environment where all individuals are treated fairly and with respect.
