Spares & Technical Support Engineer
Location: Lincoln (Onsite initially for training)
Rate: Up to £23/hour PAYE £29 Umbrella Inside IR35
Contract: 6 months initially (extension likely)
This role places the Spares & Technical Support Engineer at the heart of a fast‑moving engineering environment, working closely with Sales and Tendering Managers to keep customers' operations running smoothly. The engineer becomes the go‑to expert for interpreting spare‑parts enquiries, validating interchangeability, and ensuring every component supplied meets the highest technical standards. With a blend of analytical precision and customer‑focused urgency, they help drive rapid, accurate quoting and support critical breakdown situations.
Key Responsibilities
* Parts Interpretation – Lead the identification and interpretation of scheduled and unscheduled spare‑parts enquiries, ensuring all components meet technical requirements and supporting the processing of chargeable spares orders.
* Component Investigation – Examine and evaluate components to confirm suitability for specific engines, documenting findings to build future recommended spares lists.
* Backlog Management – Oversee work‑in‑progress across the spares backlog, coordinating with sourcing, engineering teams, and Spares Coordinators to expedite information and maintain momentum.
* Bid Support – Provide technical spares expertise during bid processes, helping secure new business by preparing clear engineering notes and explaining supersession changes to customers.
* Supplier Liaison – Work with sub‑suppliers and procurement teams to verify identification, interchangeability, suitability, and availability of bought‑out equipment.
* Urgent Shutdown Response – Act swiftly and professionally during customer shutdowns, delivering rapid spares information and driving improvements in quick‑response workflows.
* Team Collaboration – Contribute to a high‑performing team culture, supporting colleagues and championing continuous improvement across processes and systems.
What They Bring
* Engineering Qualification – Degree, HND/HNC, or equivalent relevant experience.
* Broad Engineering Background – A diverse technical foundation, ideally with exposure to gas turbines and associated equipment.
* Attention to Detail – Exceptional accuracy and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
