We are currently recruiting Traffic Officers for the following outstation:
Whittlesford - CB22 4NL
You will provide a customer-focused service through effective management of the strategic road network as part of a team, dealing with incidents such as road traffic collisions, debris removal, and other unplanned events.
Our Traffic Officers operate 24/7, 365 days a year, working on a rotational schedule: 6 days on, 3 days off. Shifts include:
* 3 early shifts (6am - 2:26pm)
* 3 late shifts (2pm - 10:26pm)
* 3 rest days
* 3 cover shifts (any of the above)
* 3 night shifts (10pm - 6:26am)
The starting salary is up to £36,562.50, which includes the base salary, 25% shift allowance, and a £1500 RRA, increasing to up to £38,012.50 after a 9-month probation period.
Responsibilities include:
* Responding to and resolving incidents on the strategic road network using safe and timely actions, including deploying traffic management and collaborating with emergency services and responders.
* Working within a team to meet performance targets proactively.
* Using technologies like radio and mobile phones to provide accurate scene updates to colleagues, partners, stakeholders, and customers.
* Ensuring personal and team safety by reporting and acting on unsafe activities or conditions.
* Maintaining records of vehicles and equipment.
About You
* Full driving license with no more than 3 points; essential for driving duties.
* Reside within one hour's commute of the vacancy location.
* Experience in motorway driving.
* Knowledge of workplace safety practices.
* Ability to deliver high-quality customer service.
* Self-motivated team player.
* Experience working independently without supervision.
