Overview
Handcross Primary School is a happy, successful, creative and caring school in a popular location. We wish to appoint a Teaching Assistant with the skills to work in any Key Stage across the school, although the role is likely to be in KS2 initially, supporting the class teacher with all aspects of their role. This role will focus on leading interventions and priority booster groups, both inside and outside the school day. Teaching Assistants may cover whole classes, as well as supervising and leading play during lunchtimes to provide continuity of provision and encourage good relationships. We are also interested in staff who have experience in working with children with SEN, who are able to support children to ensure the curriculum meets their needs. The applicants need to have a positive attitude, flexibility and ideally experience of working with primary age children. The post may suit a candidate preparing to enter teacher training in the future. Handcross Primary School is
* Good Maths and English levels at equivalent to GCSE Grade C or above
* Knowledge and understanding of how children learn
* Good levels of computing in IT
* Happy to work under the direction of the Headteacher, Class teacher and/or SENCo
* Willing to support the caring and inclusive ethos of the school

* Ability to use initiative appropriately
* Must be sympathetic to the children's needs
* To contribute enthusiastically to the staff team, be a good team player and have a very positive attitude
* Willing to take part in professional development activities
* Have an understanding of what is confidential in relation to children
* Have an ability to communicate effectively with pupils and colleagues
* Have good organisation skills
* Ability to use the required recording and reporting systems and feedback appropriately to the teacher
* Ability to adapt an activity for children experiencing difficulty
* Ability to assist the teachers in making the school an attractive and tidy learning environment, and to assist with displays
* Ability to enthuse the children in their learning
* Ability to carry out interventions and keep accurate records
* Ability to take on whole class teaching duties where appropriate
* Willingness to assist with playground duties, clubs and lunch duty
* Flexibility to work outside the school day on priority groups/extended provision
