We are looking for an Assistant Engineering Manager covering our Great Yarmouth depot!
This is a very exciting role that will allow you to make a big difference to a dynamic business.
You will ensure a smooth running of the workshop. You will also be responsible for maximising productivity and minimising lost mileage, whilst focusing on standards and health & safety practices.
Leading from the front, you'll guide the team and foster a supportive working culture. Your job is to provide high quality 24 hour engineering support within budgetary constraints.
What will you be doing?
1. To provide leadership and motivation to the engineering staff.
2. To take overall responsibility for the daily operation of the engineering workshop and depot infrastructure within budgetary limits, with a aim of minimising lost mileage and maximizing productivity while complying with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
3. To run and update vehicle inspection, vehicle servicing and vehicle MOT plans on SAP.
4. To allocate details of repeat vehicle defects and breakdown defects as identified by the Engineering Manager to the relevant supervisor(s) for remedial action.
5. To plan and control workshop staff holidays and cover arrangements to ensure that there are adequate levels of resource for all shifts to meet operational requirements.
6. To ensure all vehicle records are kept up to date in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
7. To maintain adequate levels of PCV licence holders for craft and semi-skilled to facilitate effective workshop utilisation.
8. To deputise for the Engineering Manager in their absence.
We're looking for an exceptional people manager with a suitable engineering qualification and at least three years' workshop experience in a transport environment. You'll be fully conversant with the DVSA testing of PCV and relevant health & safety regulations, as well as self-motivated, pro-active and attentive to detail.

Salary: £38,350
