Overview

Arts Therapist Principal Lead role at Islet Systems. We are looking to appoint an inspiring and enthusiastic Arts Principal Lead to join the Adult Directorates Community Services. You will have strong leadership skills and will be responsible for leading a highly skilled team who provide services for people with severe and complex mental health needs. You will have experience of Adult Mental Health Community settings, provision of supervision and working in MDT teams. Psychological professions are highly valued by the Trust and key contributors to many new developments in services and the overall strategic vision to provide efficient and trauma informed care. You will be a member of the Psychology Professional Lead team working with the Strategic Lead for Adult Mental Health, assisting with the implementation of our Strategic Plan and ensuring good governance for the Psychological Practice.

Job Responsibilities

* Provide psychological leadership for Arts Therapists and support the provision of psychologically informed care.
* Support access to effective and efficient evidence-based psychological therapy across clinical pathways and hold a small caseload.
* Lead and supervise staff, trainees and volunteers attached to the creative therapy service; provide clinical governance and professional leadership.
* Carry a specialist caseload of clients and provide advice and consultancy to patients and professionals.
* Work autonomously within professional guidelines and govern psychological practice within creative therapies.
* Receive regular professional and clinical supervision; comply with Trust policy and Professional Practice Guidelines; maintain HCPC registration.
* Contribute to management of the Psychology and Psychological Therapies Unit and provide leadership to arts therapies across the Trust.
* Engage nationally with other arts therapies leads to raise the profile of DPT and align progress with other NHS trusts.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

* Specialist professional knowledge through arts or related degree with Master’s-level training in arts psychotherapy and HCPC registration (or equivalent Post-Doctoral Applied Psychologist with HCPC registration) as appropriate.
* Experience of work in Creative Therapies across service settings; experience in teaching, training and supervision; leadership roles within NHS clinical psychology services; experience in diversity awareness and social inequality.


Desirable

* Further training in clinical specialism/arts therapy method post-master’s degree.


Requirements and Additional Information

* Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check required; post subject to Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 as amended.
