As a Test Engineer, you will work closely with developers and other testers to build and enhance testing capabilities across the Managed Data Programme. You will be embedded within scrum teams, collaborating with Product Owners, Project Managers, Business Analysts, Developers, and Vendors throughout agile ceremonies. Your role will involve analysing user stories, designing and executing tests, and delivering valuable, high-quality software solutions to the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with developers and testers to improve testing processes across the programme.
* Work within agile scrum teams to analyse requirements, define acceptance criteria, and design robust test cases.
* Implement BDD (Behaviour Driven Development) techniques using Gherkin to enhance automation and collaboration.
* Apply static testing techniques to assess quality from the early stages of development.
* Conduct thorough test case creation and execution for various data-driven applications.
* Perform database testing on Cloud Infrastructure (Snowflake, OCI Databases) using SQL.
* Work within Azure DevOps for test planning, execution, and release management.
Required Skills & Experience
* Agile methodologies and best practices.
* AAA (Arrange, Act, Assert) testing approach.
* Gherkin/BDD for test automation.
* Static Testing Techniques for early-stage quality control.
* C# programming for automated test development.
* Cloud database infrastructure – experience with Snowflake and OCI Databases.
* Test Case Creation to ensure structured, efficient testing workflows.
* SQL expertise for validating and manipulating test data.
* Background in Asset Management.
* Data Quality Testing practices and frameworks.
* Experience with release management in Azure DevOps.
* Familiarity with Git Source Control for version management.
* Knowledge of Enterprise Data Management (EDM).
* Understanding of data domains relevant to Baillie Gifford’s operations.
Department Overview
The Applications and Project Delivery department is a subdivision of the Information Systems Department, responsible for supporting the software application needs across Baillie Gifford.
Team Overview
* The test team consists of around 40 professionals divided into two groups:Investment, Trading & Corporate SystemsClient Facing Systems
* Each division has a Test Manager to provide leadership and resource allocation.
* When assigned to a project, you will be part of a cross-functional delivery team, including:Project ManagerBusiness AnalystsDevelopersProduct OwnersBusiness Users

Additional Skills & Tools
* Automation Testing (SpecFlow, Selenium, .NET).
