Job Description
This role is for a fixed term of one year due to external funding; however, it is anticipated that the funding will continue beyond this period.
Business Gateway is a national business support service delivered locally by Midlothian Council’s Economic Development Service.
The postholder will provide business support to Midlothian-based businesses at all stages of their lifecycle and across all sectors, including third sector organisations. The role involves maintaining a portfolio of clients, supporting them to commence trading or grow their business.
The Midlothian Strategy for Inclusive Economic Growth 2025-2030 adopts the globally recognised Community Wealth Building approach. An understanding of the Community Wealth Building Pillars and their positive impact on the local economy through business support delivery is essential.
A core element of this role is proactively managing relationships with clients and partners to identify opportunities that generate positive outcomes for all parties.
Candidates should have demonstrable experience in providing support to businesses.

Please note that it is Midlothian Council's policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale. The minimum actual salary for this position, based on working 36 hours over 52 weeks, is £39,128.74 per annum.
Responsibilities
Compliance with the mandatory Cabinet Office PSN (Public Sector Network) Code of Connection requires the Council to meet a baseline personal security standard, including completion of a disclosure check. The fee for this check will be met by the applicant.
Disclosure Scotland has changed the way disclosure certificates are issued. You will be notified by email when your certificate is available to view. The certificate is only accessible for 14 days once viewed. If access is not granted within this period, a new application will be necessary, incurring additional costs.
