About the role

Be part of this ‘once in a generation’ project that will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast to provide reliable load low‑carbon electricity.

The Civil Works Alliance is an extended delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C and three international construction companies: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke.

We are more than just an alliance; we are bringing together a single delivery organisation with years of learning and experience from other major complex infrastructure programmes worldwide.


What you’ll be doing

A Senior Quantity Surveyor is an experienced QS who has a track record in managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. They seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality. Typically, they will be a Chartered Member of the RICS, ICES or CIOB. They will have experience of managing a small team of less experienced commercial staff as well as mentoring others on their journey to becoming professionally qualified.

o BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent
o Membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB (or working towards)
* Desirable qualifications & experience

o Applies organisational aims & objectives

o Proven track record in managing and leading large teams
o Demonstrable experience of innovation, in all fields (Health and Safety, Operational Delivery etc)
o Experience in mentoring, and providing stretch and challenge for team members and ensuring clearly defined development plans are in place
o Strong leadership and management skills, including completion of formal qualification (e.g., ILM)
o Wide-ranging independent judgement evident
o Has achieved professional accreditation and undertakes extra‑curricular activities to advance the profession (e.g., RICS, CMI)
