Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £13.35 an hour; this increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
It is our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week. If you would like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12), we have opportunities for this as well and would still love to hear from you.
The following notes explain availability and scheduling:
* The periods of time in the week we’d like you to be available to work are the availability windows; we will schedule your contracted hours within these times, and you will have 3 weeks’ notice of exactly when your shifts will be.

Customers are at the heart of everything we do.
As the face of Tesco out on the road, we deliver all the way from Lands’ End to John O’Groats. Our Customer Delivery Drivers meet and talk to customers in their homes every day. This role is about more than just driving: it’s about helping others and delivering great service with a smile.
This is a hands-on, physical role with variety. No two shifts are the same, and customers may seek help in many ways. For most of the day you’ll feel like your own boss delivering to customers, but you will have a team of Managers and colleagues back at base for support when needed.
We welcome flexible working and aim to accommodate different lifestyle needs, whether you seek flexibility, stability, or a new career direction.
Delivering your part of our customer shopping trip by:
* Ensuring the van and trays are clean, tidy, and organised.
* Leaving the back yard clean, tidy, and free of rubbish; picking up litter as you see it.
* Ensuring trays are washed as part of the tray wash process.
* Loading the van as required and checking the van for roadworthiness.
* Talking to the customer about changes to their order, including substitutions, and offering refunds for items they are unhappy with.
* Taking care of products/deliveries as if they were your own.
* Explaining to the customer that substitutions will not be charged extra.
* Delivering during the customer’s time slot.
* Calling the customer before arriving if early.
* Calling the store/centre if running 30 minutes or more late.
* Building relationships with colleagues to create team spirit and ensure the store is the best it can be for customers.
* Being warm and welcoming in interactions with customers and colleagues; taking time to understand the customer and say "Thank you."
* Responding quickly to changing customer needs and embracing change within the store.
* Being energetic and driven to deliver beyond expectations and balance home and work.
* Sharing ideas with the Manager and other colleagues on how to improve the store for customers.
* A valid UK/EU/EEA Driving licence (Full or Automatic only) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
