Overview
Our Cardiology Ward G9 is a twenty bedded unit providing specialised care to patients with a variety of cardiac conditions. We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic Health Care Assistant with strong interpersonal skills to join us. In this environment you will need to have a calm but assertive manner and be able to manage a challenging workload. We promote staff development with the support of the Practice Development team, and you will have the opportunity to develop your skills. Full training and induction will be given and there is the opportunity to undertake further training. Please note this is a front facing clinical role where a high level of spoken and written English language is required.

Main Duties Of The Job
* To assist members of the multi-disciplinary team to maintain patient’s fundamental needs and ensure patient safety.
* To assist with a range of non-clinical duties.
* To work under the supervision of registered staff and Healthcare assistants and to provide support in the delivery of quality care for patients.
* To provide a full range of support functions in a ward/department/theatre or clinical environment. This will include undertaking the key role of delivering personal care duties for patients, supporting patients/clients with toileting, bathing, dressing and meals.
* Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of patients, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person-centered care principles.

* Provide excellent customer care skills to ensure patients come first.

* Advocate for patients within the department/ward/unit.
* Follow FHFT guidelines, policies, and procedures to maintain safe working practices for patients and colleagues.
* Ensure patients receive high-quality communication and a good patient experience, respecting their customs, religious beliefs, or principles.
* Assist the registered nurse and care team with end-of-life care and deceased patient last offices.
* Recognise and avoid situations detrimental to health and wellbeing.
Person specification
Knowledge
* Essential criteria: GCSE or equivalent
* Desirable criteria: Further healthcare education
Experience
* Essential criteria: Previous experience in healthcare settings
* Desirable criteria: Previous experience in primary care
