Applicants are invited for the above full time Senior Clinical Fellow post for at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a fixed term 6 month Senior Clinical Fellow post in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The post holder will be expected to support our consultants in delivering comprehensive care to women who attend the department. The appointee will work closely with the existing Specialist Registrars and supporting Consultants to provide a full range of obstetric and gynaecological services appropriate to a District General Hospital. It is anticipated that the candidate will provide a high standard of general obstetrics and gynaecological care.
Main duties of the job
·Ensure routine and emergency patients are seen and admitted by the FY or ST1/2, all middle grade doctors are expected to review these patients
·Daily ward rounds and visits to individual patients as appropriate
·Keeping accurate and contemporaneous medical records; these must be dated and signed, together with any other related administrative duties including discharge letters, clinic letters and review of pathology results
·Supervision of less experienced doctors when they are performing clinical duties
·Enable any emergency and/or unforeseen circumstances to be dealt with in a timely manner maintaining good communication links with both senior and junior colleagues
·To read and follow any protocols of medical cover laid down (either in writing or verbally)
·To ensure that advice is sought from a senior colleague in a timely manner when necessary
·To maintain a high standard of care by appropriate history taking, clinical assessment, investigations and treatment for safety of our patients
·To ensure all the mandatory training and required specialist training is maintained in date, including safeguarding children and adults level 3, PROMPT, fetal monitoring study days/ CTG masterclass
·To engage in clinical Governance- regular meetings, audits, guidelines keeping up to date with our local and national practice and learn from reported and investigated incidents.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Medical Degree
2. MRCOG Part 1 or recognised equivalent
3. Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
Desirable criteria
4. Additional relevant clinical experience
5. MRCOG Part 3 or recognised equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
6. Completed a minimum of 1 year speciality registrar or equivalent training in obs & gynae in the UK
7. Able to deal with emergency admissions on-call
8. Excellent all round experience of DGH work
Desirable criteria
9. Previous experience of working in an O&G post within the UK
10. Suitable experience to allow or past experience of second on-call
Knowledge
Essential criteria
11. Interest in and ability to contribute to teaching and learning of more junior doctors and medical students
12. Understand the principles of audits
Desirable criteria
13. Evidence of involvement of teaching
14. Evidence of undertaking research projects and audit
Skills
