The Access Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate quotations for automatic gates, turnstiles, bollards, barriers, shutters, automatic doors, and access control systems. The role ensures all estimates are prepared efficiently, meeting company standards and maintaining contractual service levels.
This position requires strong collaboration with engineers, procurement, and senior management to deliver high-quality, cost-effective proposals that align with customer needs and business profitability objectives.
Core Operational Responsibilities
1. Assess data from worksheets and determine required parts and labour.
2. Clarify missing or ambiguous information with engineers or senior managers to ensure accuracy.
3. Liaise with procurement to obtain the best pricing on parts.
4. Prepare detailed and accurate quotations for customers within agreed timeframes.
5. Ensure all quotations meet company margin and pricing guidelines.
6. Arrange site surveys where necessary to gather essential information.
Process Implementation
1. Adhere to company standards and guidelines for estimating and pricing.
2. Maintain accurate records of quotations and costs for future reference.
3. Ensure pricing strategies remain competitive while maintaining required profit margins.
4. Monitor quote approval rates and refine approaches for better conversion.
Compliance and Service Delivery
1. Ensure all quotes align with contractual SLAs and compliance standards.
2. Support the wider business in achieving operational KPIs related to quoting efficiency.
3. Maintain high levels of communication with relevant departments to support the sales and operational teams.
4. Raise any potential issues or risks to senior management promptly.

Cost Management
1. Ensure quotes are costed efficiently, balancing supplier costs with company profitability.
2. Work closely with procurement to secure cost-effective purchasing options.
3. Monitor supplier price fluctuations and update pricing models accordingly.
Stakeholder Management
1. Develop strong relationships with engineers, customers, and internal departments.
2. Communicate effectively with senior management (including the Chief Operating Officer), providing updates on quote pipelines and trends.
3. Ensure high levels of customer service by responding to pricing queries in a timely and professional manner.

Skills and Experience Required
* Strong estimating experience, ideally in an engineering or access control industry.
* Ability to assess technical requirements and prepare accurate costings.
* Excellent communication skills for liaising with engineers, suppliers, and customers.

* IT proficiency – ability to use estimating tools, spreadsheets, and company systems.
* Strong time management skills, capable of working to deadlines.
* Experience in the access control, security, or construction industry.
* Familiarity with procurement processes and supplier negotiations.

Additional Information
* Salary of £40000 OTE with basic of £32000.
* 25 days annual leave plus statutory holidays.
