Overview
We welcome applications from individuals wishing to become an Apprentice and gain experience in the NHS. You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team, gaining valuable work experience and a recognised apprenticeship qualification. You will be enrolled with a local education provider and will be required to complete your Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner qualification within the duration of the placement. In this busy and rewarding role you'll be the welcoming face of our Neurology & Neurophysiology department, supporting patients, families and clinical teams, managing appointments and ensuring real‑time data entry.
You will also spend time learning the vital background administration processes that help a department function. No two days are the same and you'll be supported throughout your 14‑month apprenticeship as you grow in confidence, capability and professionalism.
Responsibilities
As an Apprentice Receptionist in our Neuroscience Department, you'll play a key role in supporting patients, families and clinical teams. Your day will include welcoming patients and managing enquiries in person and by phone, arranging and prioritising appointments, preparing notes for clinics, tracking records and ensuring accurate real‑time data entry on our systems. You'll help keep the department running smoothly while learning from an experienced and supportive team.
You will rotate between different areas of the Neuroscience department, including the Neurology outpatient reception, Neurology Admin office and Neurophysiology admin office. You'll develop strong communication, customer care and organisational skills, with the ability to multitask, maintain confidentiality and work calmly under pressure. A flexible, people‑focused approach is essential as you support technical, nursing, medical and administrative colleagues.
