We are afriendly and busy practice with approximately 13300 patients, offering a friendly welcome to the right candidate. We are seeking a six session salaried GP to join our existing team of 3 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GP's and 4 AdvancedNurse Practitioners. Alongside theclinical team, we have a fantastic nursing and admin team, to assist with thepatient's experience and Pharmacist to compliment.We are a wellorganised team who believe in a healthy work life balance, whilst ensuring thepatient care is of a high standard. The successful applicant will workalongside our experienced team, managing their caseload in dealing with a widerange of health needs in a purpose built primary care setting. Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be expected to undertakeall of the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working inprimary care. In accordance with the practice timetable the post-holder willmake themselves available, as agreed, to undertake a variety of duties,including surgery consultations, telephone and econsultations and queries,visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, resolvingmedication queries, and completion of paperwork and correspondence in a timelyfashion. The on call rota is fairlydistributed with a one day every two weeks on call rota for the post holder with protected time.

NeashamRoad Surgery is a large, friendly GP practice based in Darlington with a registered list size of 13300 patient; making us one of the largestpractices in Darlington currently. Weachieve highly in QOF and have a CQC rating of good. We are a busy practice but believe in ensuringour staff are supported during the busy working week. We enjoy twosocial events per year (Christmas and Summer) and also partake in the annualSurgery Quiz event. We have SocialPrescriber on site, along with the Children's and Families Social Prescriberalong with our Pharmacy team. We havedirect access to physio appointments and mental health support team. Support is always on hand from the other clinicians and ancillary staff.
This post is available due to our current Salaried GP taking up the opportunity to become a Partner in the practice as of April 2026.
Job responsibilities
In accordance with the practice timetable, asagreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a varietyof duties and responsibilities typical of working in Primary Care. Makingprofessional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether-self referred or referred from other health care workers within theorganisation. Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiatedand undiagnosed problems. Screening patients for disease risk factors and earlysigns of illness Developing care plans for health in consultation with patientsand in line with current practice disease protocols. Providing counselling andhealth education. Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseloadand referring to other care providers as appropriate. Recording clear andcontemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards. Collecting data foraudit purposes. Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeatprescriptions (avoiding handwritten prescriptions whenever possible). Otherresponsibilities within the organisation Awareness of and compliance with allrelevant practice policies / guidelines, e.g., prescribing, confidentiality,data protection, health and safety. A commitment to life-long learning andaudit to ensure evidence based best practice. Contributing to evaluation /audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation. Contributing tothe development of computer-based patient records. Contributing to thesummarising of patient records and Read-coding patient data. This will include (but will not be limited to): Ensuringa good clinical working environment. Lack of facilities to be escalated asappropriate to the responsible manager. Safe management of sharps use, storageand disposal. Maintenance of own clean working environment. Undertakingperiodic infection control training (minimum twice annually). Correct waste andinstrument management including handling, segregation, and container use.Maintenance of sterile environments.
