Jorja Healthcare is establishing a specialist private diagnostic laboratory to support our growing healthcare services. We are looking for a motivated and adaptable Biomedical Scientist to play a pivotal role in helping us set up and run a small but high-quality laboratory service, initially focused on blood sciences. About the Role
As a Biomedical Scientist (Biochemistry) with Jorja Healthcare, you will:
* Perform the processing and analysis of blood specimens, supporting the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of patients.
* Contribute to the design and implementation of laboratory systems, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and scalability as the service grows.
* Work in line with HCPC professional standards, maintaining a strong CPD portfolio.
* Ensure compliance with UKAS, HTA, BSQR, and other relevant quality and regulatory standards.
* Support the smooth day-to-day running of the lab, including liaising with IT providers, equipment suppliers, and clinicians.
* Take responsibility for prioritising urgent and emergency requests, delivering accurate results within agreed turnaround times.
* Provide support and guidance to laboratory support staff and work collaboratively within a small, multidisciplinary team.
What We're Looking For
* HCPC registration
* An IBMS-accredited degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent.
* Experience in biochemistry or blood sciences, ideally within a diagnostic laboratory.
* Strong understanding of quality management systems and laboratory governance.
* Proactive, flexible, and excited about contributing to the development of a new lab service.
