Futures recruitment are working with a global manufacturing business who are looking to appoint a Control Engineer. The successful Controls Engineer will join an expanding engineering team. In this role, you will play a critical part in driving operational efficiency by designing, developing, and optimising automation and control systems across the facility. As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliable performance, safety, and continuous improvement of production equipment and processes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including maintenance, production, and project engineering—to implement innovative solutions that support our commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: • Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems to enhance automation processes. • Analyse and optimise existing control systems to improve equipment performance, uptime, and energy efficiency. • Develop and implement system upgrades, modifications, and expansions to meet evolving production needs. • Conduct root cause analysis of control system failures and implement long-term corrective actions. • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to integrate new equipment and systems. • Maintain detailed documentation of control systems, including schematics, logic diagrams, and technical specifications. • Support commissioning and startup activities for new equipment and process lines. • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies. • Provide training and technical support to maintenance and operations personnel on control systems. Qualifications and Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field. • Proven experience in a controls engineering role within a manufacturing or industrial environment. • Strong knowledge of PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI design, and industrial communication protocols. • Experience with data acquisition systems, instrumentation, and process control. • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. • Strong communication and documentation abilities.
