The Opportunity
We're seeking a skilled Commercial Lawyer to deliver high-quality, pragmatic advice across a varied portfolio of commercial work. This hybrid role offers flexibility-work from home with office attendance several times per month and in-person meetings/negotiations as required.
Key Responsibilities
* Advise on commercial, contract, procurement and subsidy control law
* Lead negotiations on major projects and procurements; manage legal risk
* Draft and review contracts, frameworks and complex agreements
* Advise on TUPE and pensions in service transfers
* Support the Council's statutory and strategic functions
* Represent the Council in judicial reviews and other proceedings
* Mentor colleagues and contribute to training, knowledge and service improvement
About You
* Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FCILEX with post-qualification experience
* Strong technical background in commercial/contract/procurement law
* Excellent drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
* Confident managing risk and advising on complex, high-profile matters
* Collaborative, improvement-minded, and comfortable using legal IT/case systems
* Background in public or private practice-both welcomed
