School First Aid / Welfare Officer
Job Description
Job Purpose
Provide comprehensive first aid support and medical assistance to students, staff, and visitors.
Deliver high-quality administrative support that is accurate, professional, and completed within deadlines.
Maintain excellent customer service and effective communication at all times.
Contract Details
Hours: 32½ hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:15am – 3:45pm, term time only.
Salary: £16-£18 per hour
Expected Start Date: July 2026.
First Aid Responsibilities
Administer first aid to students, staff, and visitors as required.
Work collaboratively with the administration and student services teams.
Develop, manage, and implement individual healthcare plans for students with medical needs.
Liaise with parents, healthcare professionals, and external agencies to ensure healthcare plans remain accurate and up to date.
Monitor and manage medication stored within the school, ensuring all medication is in date and readily available.
Coordinate school vaccination programmes.
Maintain accurate and confidential student health records and communicate relevant updates to appropriate staff.
Ensure all first aid kits across the school are fully stocked, in date, and appropriately located, including preparation of kits for educational visits and school trips.
Respond professionally to telephone calls, emails, and general enquiries from students, staff, parents, and external agencies.
Support attendance and wider student services functions during periods of staff absence.
Administrative Responsibilities
Assist with procedures relating to missing or damaged school uniform.
Support clerical processes linked to students signing in and out of school.Assist with Behaviour for Learning administration, including:
Updating the school database, including Arbor MIS, with detentions, credits, and lateness records on a daily basis.
Maintaining Behaviour for Learning notice boards.
Supporting the issuing of lateness detentions to students.
Use the Arbor MIS system effectively to maintain accurate student records, communication logs, attendance information, and administrative documentation.
Safeguarding and Compliance
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding legislation, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and Child Protection procedures.
Ensure all records are maintained in accordance with data protection legislation, confidentiality requirements, and the Trust’s record retention policies.
Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people at all times.
General Responsibilities
Comply with health and safety responsibilities relevant to the role.

Participate in training, professional development, and performance review processes to enhance skills and knowledge.
