What You’ll Do
The Cover Technician’s primary function is to provide AV support across various client campus sites, providing backfill coverage for sick and holiday leave. The position involves a high degree of exposure to our customers and key client stakeholders.
Day‑To‑Day Responsibilities
* Covering the permanently placed onsite staff holiday, sickness and absence leave.
* Supporting the requirements of the client site in which you are placed by providing basic maintenance support of audio‑visual and video‑conferencing equipment and systems onsite.
* Providing AV/VC support to our clients, their staff and external clients.
* Setting up, operating and maintaining AV/VC equipment.
* Adapting to work as part of a permanent AV team or independently on a lone site.
* Supporting end users as requested by the client.
* Event support, including setup and operation of PA systems, VC system, projection systems, etc. This could be in small event environments or full auditorium setups.
* Cross‑training with other members of the team to ensure a seamless delivery of services and support to our clients.
* Handling any admin processing that may be required.
Items to Consider
* AVI‑SPL reserves the right to alter work hours and location as necessary. Work hours may vary based on client requirements and may include travel to various locations in support of the account.
* This position will generally work on customer sites and may involve a construction‑site type of work environment.
What We’re Looking For
Must‑Haves
* Ability to operate videoconference hardware (Cisco, Webex, Poly, etc.) and troubleshoot related issues.
* Proven experience operating PA, projection and room control/booking systems (Crestron/AMX, etc.).
* Intermediate IT knowledge.
* Maturity, especially when under pressure, and ability to maintain excellence in customer service with clients of all seniority levels.
* Excellent organizational and time‑management skills. The role involves last‑minute requests, so flexibility is key.
* Ability to impart knowledge to those less skilled.
* Adaptability to work in unfamiliar surroundings.
* Ability to work well as part of a small team or on your own.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
