As an Outfitting Detail Design Engineer, you will carry out detailed engineering design activities, working closely with cross-functional teams on a range of projects, ensuring work complies with industry standards and regulations. You will deliver accurate technical drawings and specifications, help identify and resolve design issues, support the business in preparing technical reports and documents, and participate in design reviews.
You are an experienced designer, comfortable using design software and tools such as FORAN. You have a keen eye for detail and accuracy, and you can use analytical and problem-solving skills in challenging situations. You can work autonomously or within a larger team and adapt to changing project requirements.
Responsibilities
* Creation of CAD Models and Drawings: Producing detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings to meet required standards.
* Design Deliverables: Ensuring all design deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
* Coordinate with colleagues and stakeholders during appropriate design phases to ensure coordination and functionality of design.
* Project Support: Contributing to and supporting the entire project and product design cycle, from concept to construction and installation.
* Technical Support: Providing technical support during the construction and installation phases.
* Self-verification of work.
* Reporting of technical progress and issues to line management.
* Ensure safety, health and environmental requirements are implemented.
* Assist with the maintenance and improvement of quality standards of outputs.
* Change embodiment.
Qualifications
* NC/HNC or an equivalent qualification/experience in a relatable discipline.
* Apprenticeship in relevant discipline or relevant industry experience.
Essential Skills
* Proficiency in one or more parametric/spec-driven CAD systems in both 3D and 2D environments.
* Able to work to Engineering Design Standards.
Desired Skills
* Naval Defence Experience
* Familiarity with shipbuilding/ship repair terminology and practices.

Experience
* Design processes and procedures specifically within detail design (stage 2 modelling/stage 3 outputs) on Naval or Commercial Marine projects (preferably naval shipbuilding projects) or similar.
* Relevant experience from other industries including Oil & Gas, Process, Manufacturing, Defence, Aerospace, Rail, Civil and Automotive.
