About the Role
Our client, a top global organization, is seeking an experienced
Functional Test Lead
to join a critical programme implementing a large-scale SCADA migration and integration programme. This role requires leading multiple functional test stages across both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies, ensuring quality, consistency, and timely delivery. The Functional Test Lead will be responsible for managing test planning, execution, reporting, and stakeholder coordination. The role will also involve working with external dependencies such as Test Data & Environment Management Services (TDEMS) and third parties, ensuring environments, data, and support resources are aligned to test requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead testing for waterfall stages including
System & Regression Test of Connected Systems (STRC), Point-to-Point, UAT, and Automation
.
* Define scope, approach, and test plans; manage day-to-day testing activities.
* Oversee test preparation and execution, ensuring scripts, evidence, results, and defects meet agreed standards.
* Manage external dependencies (environments, data, and third-party coordination).
* Drive defect management, including hosting defect triage meetings when required.
* Ensure consistent and standardised test and defect management processes across teams.
* Produce test dashboards and reports using
JIRA, Excel, and Power BI
to provide clear visibility of progress and quality.
* Support Agile delivery teams by feeding scope changes and dependencies into backlogs.
* Conduct QA reviews of test scope, coverage, and quality with programme SMEs.
* Deputise for the Functional Test Manager when required.
Essential Skills & Experience
* 5+ years' experience leading
SIT and UAT
across Agile and Waterfall delivery.
* Strong test planning, estimation, and defect management skills.
* Hands-on experience with
JIRA, XRAY Test Management, JQL scripting
, and dashboard reporting.
* Proficiency with reporting tools such as
Excel and Power BI
.
* Proven ability to implement and improve QA/test processes across diverse teams.
* Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt approaches to meet delivery challenges.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Experience
* Knowledge of
SCADA systems, Real-Time Control, or Network Monitoring Systems (NMS)
.
* Experience with OSI Aspentech / DGM products (or similar industry solutions).
* Familiarity with
Oracle MFT, Mulesoft APIs
, and system integration testing.
* Awareness of industry standards and regulations related to power/control systems (e.g., IEC101, IEC104, GI74, IEC 61850, IEEE).
