Job Details
This role is based within Business Technology Solutions (BTS) and is a full-time position working 36 hours per week.
You will earn a competitive salary of £31,761.26 to £34,914.86 pro rata and have access to a range of benefits including local and national discounts for supermarkets, restaurants, and retail.
An exciting opportunity to join the Collaboration and Productivity Solutions (CaPS) Competency Centre in BTS, and work with Microsoft technologies to deliver savings and efficiencies across the Council.
You will play a key role in designing, developing, and implementing solutions that harness the full potential of Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, streamline workflows, and create custom applications that enhance efficiency and decision-making.
Key responsibilities will include: -
1. Provide duty support as required, managing and resolving assigned Power BI, related support requests in a timely and professional manner.
2. Assist with the day-to-day administration and maintenance of Power BI services, including workspaces, datasets, and reports, ensuring reliable and efficient service delivery.
3. Monitor Power BI usage, performance, and adoption, producing regular reports to support governance, risk management, and informed decision-making.
4. Provide first-line support to users, offering guidance on Power BI reports, dashboards, and self-service capabilities, and escalating more complex technical issues as required.
5. Assist with report deployments, dataset refresh management, and change activities, ensuring alignment with established processes and controls.
6. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of documentation, including report guides, data definitions, and standard operating procedures.
7. Support the implementation of data governance and security controls within Power BI, including access management and data handling policies, under supervision of senior team members.
8. Participate in training, knowledge sharing, and continuous professional development to build expertise in Power BI and the wider Power Platform ecosystem.
9. Work collaboratively with colleagues to support service improvements, reporting enhancements, and user adoption initiatives.
The Person
Educated to SCQF level 7 which includes HNC or Advanced Highers or equivalent vocational accreditation in a computing / systems or related discipline or equivalent experience
Experience in the design and use of IT solutions and tools that meet business needs.
Ability to translate logical designs into physical solutions.
Experience in the production of clear and detailed documentation for customers and colleagues.
Requires the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment and work independently as needed, depending on the nature of the tasks
Demonstrate a commitment to fostering continuous learning, staying abreast of the latest features, and adhering to best practices within the Power Platform.
