Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking a Temporary Accommodation Officer to join a Greater Manchester Local Authority on a temporary basis. This is a full-time role working 36.25 hours per week.
The successful candidate will manage temporary accommodation placements across the Trafford area, ensuring properties are safe, well-maintained, and compliant with housing standards. You will work closely with landlords, tenants, and internal departments to maintain effective tenancy management, process Housing Benefit and Council Tax matters, and support households in moving on to permanent accommodation.
Main Duties:
* Manage and monitor temporary accommodation placements in line with statutory guidance
* Conduct regular property inspections to ensure health, safety, and maintenance standards are met
* Negotiate and prepare tenancy agreements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with housing legislation
* Liaise with landlords, letting agents, and accommodation providers to secure and manage suitable placements
* Work collaboratively with Housing Benefit and Council Tax teams to ensure claims and payments are processed correctly
* Provide advice and support to clients to help sustain their accommodation and move into settled housing
* Maintain accurate case records and tenancy information using the Council’s housing management systems
Essential Criteria:
* Previous experience working within a local authority housing or homelessness service
* Strong understanding of tenancy agreements and landlord-tenant legislation
* Knowledge of Housing Benefit, Council Tax, and affordability assessments
* Experience conducting property inspections and addressing compliance issues
* Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage a busy caseload
