The Legal Services Department is now looking to expand to support the implementation of the Police Scotland Estates Masterplan and are now looking for a Senior Solicitor (Contracts/Commercial).
Key responsibilities of the Senior Solicitor (Contracts/Commercial) include:
To assist the Chief Legal Officer in the effective delivery of professional legal advice and guidance to the Chief Constable, Senior Management and other members of Police Scotland and in the execution of legal work with a focus on police contracts, commercial contracts and procurement law.
The post holder will be engaged in contract and commercial work in connection with the work of Police Scotland including the provision of advice on a variety of contracts connected to policing, advice on supply contracts, the drafting and revising of contracts and ancillary documentation, advice in respect of compliance with the Scottish Police Authority and Police Scotland governance framework and advice on a variety of procurement issues including on the Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations 2015.
The essential skills and experienced required are as follows:
Current unrestricted Practicing Certificate from the Law Society of Scotland
Educated to LLB Degree (Bachelor of Laws) or equivalent(DIPLP (Diploma in Legal Practice), preferably with Public Administration is desirable).
Personal Qualities Essential:
Effective negotiating and legal drafting skills.
Proven achievements in specific areas of Contracts/Commercial legal work, demonstrating relevant experience of Contracts/Commercial legal work of a complex or important nature.
