Job Summary
Deputy Theatre Manager – responsible for supporting the Theatre Manager in delivering safe, effective, high‑quality theatre services, maximising utilisation, maintaining clinical standards and fostering strong relationships with consultants and multidisciplinary teams at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Provide visible clinical and managerial leadership across the theatre department.
* Monitor, support and enhance delivery of high‑quality patient care.
* Act as a role model, mentor and source of professional advice for theatre staff.
* Encourage continual learning and professional development within the team.
* Identify and champion improvements in peri‑operative practice using evidence‑based standards.
* Delegate effectively, ensuring clarity of goals while supporting staff to succeed.
* Embed clinical governance and risk management into daily operations.
* Ensure policies, procedures and legislation are followed consistently.
* Support achievement of departmental KPIs and budgetary targets.
* Work closely with the Theatre Manager to optimise theatre utilisation and address under‑used sessions.
* Manage staff rosters efficiently to meet service demand while maintaining KPI compliance.
* Oversee stock management and work with Finance to ensure effective use of resources.
* Lead and contribute to departmental audits, reviews and improvement action plans.
* Ensure patient information is handled in line with data protection and Spire policies.
Essential Skills
* Experience as a clinical practitioner registered with NMC or HCPC in a theatre setting.
* Evidence of substantial post‑registration CPD in management and other clinically relevant subjects.
* Ability to work within a performance‑driven culture while maintaining safe standards.
* Experience meeting financial and budgetary targets.
* Strong management, motivation and development of the clinical team.
Experience
* Prior experience as a clinical practitioner registered with NMC or HCPC.
* Desirable: Surgical first assistant.
Qualifications
* BSc (Hons) Nursing or ODP.
