Stroke Consultant – Welcome Bonus £20K
We invite applicants who are looking to join an innovative and dynamic small team of stroke physicians to look after the second busiest stroke service in the Anglian region. The postholder will be based at the Ipswich Hospital site as part of the ESNEFT strategy for Stroke.
Responsibilities
* Full-time substantive position, completing the team at the Ipswich Hospital site.
* Work a 7‑day inpatient stroke rota (hyper‑acute and acute care) covering 28 inpatient beds.
* Run daily TIA clinics and weekly outpatient clinics reviewing new referrals and stroke follow‑ups.
* Lead and develop the educational requirements of the stroke service.
* Optionally participate in additional activities, including the acute medicine on‑call rota or the regional telemedicine rota.
* Work within a rotating weekly one‑in‑four rota comprising HASU/ASU patient care, TIA clinics Monday to Friday, outpatient clinics, and weekend activities such as HASU ward rounds, TIA clinic, and ward reviews.
* Provide weekend and bank‑holiday Stroke Unit ward rounds and assessment of high‑risk TIA referrals as part of a one‑in‑six rota, supported by acute medicine and elderly care colleagues.
* Contract: 10 PA based on BMA recommendations; 8.5 PA on direct clinical care and 1.5 PA on supporting professional activities (CPD, audit, teaching, appraisal).
