Salary: £55,000 - £67,500
Hybrid: up to 4 days from home
Location: Flexible — London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Leicester, Newcastle, Leeds, Nottingham, Manchester, Liverpool
Summary: Rare chance to specialise in a high-growth, niche practice advising major corporates on urgent, high-stakes regulatory matters. Direct client exposure, easy billable targets thanks to premium charge-out rates, and clear progression in a team that’s a market leader in its space.
Ever wanted to be a “big fish in a small pond”?
This is your chance to become a recognised expert in a niche field — transport regulatory law.
This team has turned a niche practice into a genuine market leader, advising household-name corporates and fleet operators when the stakes are highest. With rapid growth and limited competition in the market, there’s no better time to step in and carve out your space.
This would suit someone who already had either regulatory experience in either Health and Safety or Environmental law or perhaps from a private corporate crime background looking to diversify and niche.
Why this role matters
* Urgency + impact: You’ll be on the frontline when clients face DVSA investigations or Traffic Commissioner inquiries.
* Boardroom exposure: Direct access to statutory directors and senior leadership at major corporates.
* True specialism: This isn’t generic litigation. It’s a rare chance to build scarce, in-demand expertise.
* Billables made easy: With high charge-out rates and urgent, high-value instructions, hitting your targets isn’t just achievable — it’s expected.
What you’ll actually do
* Advise and represent national fleet operators and corporates on regulatory compliance.
* Handle sensitive, high-stakes investigations — whistleblowing, maintenance records, compliance failures.
* Run privilege-protected investigations and prepare detailed witness evidence.
* Appear at public inquiries and hearings as advocate (often for owner-managed businesses).
* Deliver client training, health checks, and compliance audits.
* Write, present, and speak — helping grow both your own and the team’s profile.
Who you are
* 2–6 PQE Solicitor / Legal Executive in Transport Regulatory or H&S, Environmental, Corporate Crime or similar.
* Confident dealing with board-level stakeholders.
* Calm, precise, and methodical — especially under time pressure.
* Polished drafting, strong advocacy, and commercial awareness.
* Ready to travel (typically one day per week, national hearings).
* Crucially: you want to specialise — not be a generalist litigator forever.
What’s in it for you
* Competitive salary £55,000 - £67,500 + bonus potential.
* 28 days holiday + bank holidays.
* Hybrid working — proven model with remote support/training. Up to 4 days from home.
* Pension — 4% matched in first six months, rising to 6%.
* Private healthcare (individual cover, with options for family).
* Life insurance (4x salary) + income protection.
* Dental scheme + discounted gym membership.
* Cycle-to-work + travel loan schemes.
* Tech benefit scheme (spread the cost of new kit).
* Employee care helpline + wellbeing perks.
* Genuine progression in a growing team — clear track to principal and beyond.
Why join this team?
Because this is a chance to stand out.
In a crowded legal market, very few people can say they’re transport regulatory specialists. Fewer still get to do it at national scale, with blue-chip clients, and with the support of a thriving, specialist team.
You’ll make an outsized impact, gain rare expertise, and build a career with serious progression potential.
